"Lanterns, Light Bearers, Armor Bearers, Shields and Torches"©

Radiant Light© Mentoring is an "in the trenches" type of ministry. We come together as Spiritual Moms/Sisters to walk alongside mentees, whom we call Torches. The mentoring process typically accelerates the spiritual growth of a Torch by focusing on her specific walk with the Lord. As a Torch grows in her spiritual walk and in intimacy with the Lord, He reveals her heavenly identity--who she was made to be. Through that revelation, the Torch gains confidence in her walk and is better able to determine her area of expertise.

RMI Mentors are called Lanterns. We chose that name to remove any negative stereotypes that surround the idea of mentoring and discipleship. A lantern, by definition, "...is a transparent, usually portable, case for enclosing a light and protecting it from wind and rain". The lantern surrounds the light (torch) and allows it to shine. As Lanterns, we offer prayer cover, experience of walking with the Lord, and Bible based encouragement. All Lanterns are trained* and are submitted to oversight, prayer cover, continual training and encouragement.

Becoming a RMI Torch

The ultimate mentoring goal is for the Torch to grow in her walk with Father, Son and Holy Spirit. For a successful mentoring relationship, Torches must be teachable and prepared for additional study from a wide variety of resource materials. Torches are expected to be self-starters and take responsibility for their growth in the Lord. The RMI Lanterns* encourage the Torch's spiritual growth and character development; pinpointing areas of gifting and calling. This is a dynamic, fun and interactive relationship!

There is no cost to become a Torch. However, materials/resources may need to be purchased during the process. In addition, each Lantern has an advisor who acts as a prayer warrior, encourager and offers accountability for the Lantern. Application Process We interview each applicant and then pray for the Lord's direction for each situation. In addition, we try to match the Torch with the Lantern that will be the best fit in giftings, calling and experiences. Going forward, the meetings may be face to face or via phone (depending on location). Our typical Torch is intentional about expanding her relationship with the Lord; strengthening her leadership skills, giftings and abilities, and pursuing her God-given calling. Becoming a RMI Lantern

As a Lantern, we must remain humble, teachable and transparent in our hearts, words and actions; allowing God's light to shine through us to others. RMI Lanterns hold a special role in the body of Christ to teach, train and encourage. They are trained in curriculum that is biblically based and specific to Radiant Ministries. Lanterns receive support, continued training and encouragement in their own walk with God, as well as in their relationship with their Torch.

Mentoring is a part of every aspect of this program. Each Lantern has a Light Bearer who acts as encouragement, support, prayer warrior, wise counsel* and accountability for the mentoring relationship. The Light Bearers have Armor Bearers who offer the same type of support, while coordinating several groups of Light Bearers and Lanterns. The senior leader is called a Shield. The Shield is responsible for development of training, continued support, resource expansion and prayer covering for all the groups.^

Each Lantern is expected to commit to a Torch for the duration of the mentoring relationship.
